Unfortunately, not long after that her father died. Since then, Bawang Putih’s life was sad. Her step mother and her step sister treated Bawang Putih badly and always asked her to do all the household chores.

One morning, Bawang Putih was washing some clothes in a river. Accidentally, her mother’s clothes were washed away by the river. She was really worried so she walked along the river side to find the clothes. Finally she met an old woman. She said that she kept the clothes and would give them back to Bawang Putih if she helped the old woman do the household chores. Bawang Putih helped her happily. After everything was finished, the old woman returned the clothes. She also gave Bawang Putih a gift. The old woman had two pumpkins, one pumpkin was small and the other one was big. Bawang Putih had to choose one.

Bawang Putih was not a greedy girl. So she took the small one. After thanking the old woman, Bawang Putih then went home. When she arrived home, her step mother and Bawang Merah were angry. They had been waiting for her all day long. Bawang Putih then told about the clothes, the old woman, and the pumpkin. Her mother was really angry so she grabbed the pumpkin and smashed it to the floor. Suddenly they all were surprised. Inside the pumpkin they found jewelries. “Bawang Merah, hurry up. Go to the river and throw my clothes into the water. After that, find the old woman. Remember, you have to take the big pumpkin,” the step mother asked Bawang Merah to do exactly the same as Bawang Putih’s experience. Bawang Merah immediately went to the river. She threw the clothes and pretended to search them. Not long after that, she met the old woman. Again she asked Bawang Merah to do household chores. She refused and asked the old woman to give her a big pumpkin. The old woman then gave her the big one. Bawang Merah was so happy. She ran very fast. When she arrived home, her mother was impatient. She directly smashed the pumpkin to the floor. They were screaming. There were a lot of snakes inside the pumpkin! They were really scared. They were afraid the snakes would bite them. “Mom, I think God just punished us. We had done bad things to Bawang Putih. And God didn’t like that. We have to apologize to Bawang Putih,” said Bawang Merah.

Finally both of them realized their mistakes. They apologized and Bawang Putih forgave them. Now the family is not poor anymore. Bawang Putih decided to sell all the jewelries and used the money for their daily lives.

   The Indonesian flora ranges from the tiny orchids to the giant Rafflesia plant. The Rafflesia Arnoldi is the biggest flower in the world. It's derived from the name of British Governor General, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, who once governed and built the Botanical Garden in Bogor.    While the flowerss is blooming, it has very unpleasant smells, which attracts insects, especially greeen flies. They seem eager to explore the flower. Howevwe, the flies which touch the bottom part of sticks they will die.

Green Bean and Red Bean

Once upon a time, there was a family that lived with a happyness in the village, but the happyness had been ended when their mother got passed away due to the terrible sick, Green Bean and her father felt so sad.

In the village also lived a widow who had a daughter named Red Bean, since the Green Bean's mother got passed away, The mother of Red Bean often came to the Green Bean's house, and that made the Green Bean's father fell in love with Red Bean's mother and finally they got married.

Long time after the marriage, the Red Bean's mother killed the Green Bean's father because she wanted to take control of his wealth. Since her mother death, Red Bean and her mother could do whatever they wanted.

One day, Green Bean went to a market to sell the Red Bean Mother's jewelries because they were strapped for a money to buy some food. If you plant it and let it for a night, this bean will grow up through the sky". And then Green Bean agreed to exchange her jewelries with a bean from the old man, then he went home.

When Green Bean arrived home, her stepmother asked about how much money that Green Bean got for the jewelries. But instead of brought a buck of money, she just brought a bean. Her stepmother got angry immediately and she said angrily "how can you exchange my jewelries with this bean?" And suddenly she throw that bean out of the window.

In the next day, the bean became a big tree that grew up through the sky. "Wow amazing, what the old man have said to me is true." Green bean said in her heart. And she immediately climbed up onto that tree carefully. Not long time after that, she could see a very big and wonderful castle, she entered the castle because she felt hungry, she knocked the big castle door, and then the castle door opened.

When she looked around the castle, there was a giant female appeared in front of her.
Green bean felt so afraid. The giant female asked her "hey daughter, what are you doing here?". Green beam replied "I felt so thirsty and hungry, will you give me some of your food?". "Wow you're a polite girl, come in, you can eat all food in the dinning room". Giant female said. With no thought, Green Bean went to the dinning room and she started to eat. But when she was eating,

Green Bean found a hide spot, that was in the fireplace. After had his lunch, he slept, because he was so tired. Green Bean got out from her hiding spot. And the female giant called her and gave her a pocket of gold, then Green Bean go down with the big tree and finally arrived home.

When her stepmother saw her coming home with a pocket of gold, she came to Green Bean and asked "from whom you got this pocket of gold?" And Green Bean answered it "I got this pocket of gold from a female giant who lives in the castle on the top of that big tree, mom". "Are you sure? Can I get this pocket many more? I want to go there, now" said her stepmother greedily.
"But mom, you have to be careful, because there is a giant who loves to eat human". Green Bean replied. "I don't care! That is none of your business!".

After that, her stepmother asked Red Bean to accompanied her to climb the big tree. And when they were arrived there, they were amazed with the big castle, and then the male giant wokeup

Red Bean and her mother entered the castle and saw a gold-covered mirror, they would to bring that mirror to their house, but when they would steal the mirror, there was something shocking thing happened, the mirror shouted loudly "my lord.... help me, there is a theft here". The male giant heared that and chased them immediately, Red Bean and her mother went down the tree and the mother asked Red Bean to cut the tree with thr axe, with the gorgeous sound, the big tree fell down to the ground.

With a tears stream down on their face, the mother and Red Bean asked an apology to the Green Bean, they realized that they were  very cruel to Green Bean, and they were promied to not be a greedy anymore, since the incident, they were lived happily.

The flavour was not much to the taste of the guest and presently he broke out with “My poor dear friend, you live here no better than the ants. Now, you should just see how I fare! My larder is a regular horn of plenty. You must come and stay with me and I promise you shall live on the fat of the land."

So when he returned to town he took the Country Mouse with him and showed him into a larder containing flour and oatmeal and figs and honey and dates.

The Country Mouse had never seen anything like it and sat down to enjoy the luxuries his friend provided. But before they had well begun, the door of the larder opened and some one came in. The two Mice scampered off and hid themselves in a narrow and exceedingly uncomfortable hole. Presently, when all was quiet, they ventured out again. But some one else came in, and off they scuttled again. This was too much for the visitor. "Good bye," said he, "I'm off. You live in the lap of luxury, I can see, but you are surrounded by dangers whereas at home I can enjoy my simple dinner of roots and corn in peace."

Tapi sebelum mereka mulai dengan baik, pintu lemari makanan terbuka dan seseorang masuk. Kedua Tikus itu lari dan bersembunyi di lubang sempit dan sangat tidak nyaman. Saat ini, ketika semuanya tenang, mereka memberanikan diri keluar lagi. Tapi ada orang lain yang masuk, dan mereka kabur lagi. Ini terlalu banyak untuk pengunjung. "Selamat tinggal," katanya, "aku pergi. Kamu hidup di pangkuan kemewahan, aku bisa melihat, tetapi kamu dikelilingi oleh bahaya sedangkan di rumah aku bisa menikmati makan malam sederhana dari akar dan jagung dengan tenang."

Long time ago…

England was ruled by a greedy King. He ordered the Sheriff, to tax the people so heavily that some were forced to become outlaws. Two of the most famous outlaws were Robin Hood and his friend, Little John. They would steal the tax money from sheriff and give it back to the poor.

One day, the king was traveling. He was so busy counting his gold . He didn’t notice that he was passing through the Sherwood Forest, the home of Robin Hood. Nor did he see two pairs of eyes that watching him from the tree.

“Look at those gold, Little John! Let’s pay the King a little visit, shall we?” Robin said.

Inside the coach, the King was singing happily.

“Golden Golden, I love things made of Gold… from top of my crown ‘till the tip of my toes”

Robin hood were standing by the road-side as he disguised himself as a fortune teller. The King saw him and got interested. Therefore he asked ‘the lady’ to tell him about his fortune.

“Ooh~ A long life with lots and lots of gold. Such a wonderful future” Robin said.

“Of course! Gold is the most beautiful thing in the world” The King said excitedly. He didn’t realize that Little John is taking his gold.

And so, the two manage to get all of the gold without getting caught.

Meanwhile, in the village, the Sheriff was busy collecting taxes.

“I must have more taxes! Hand over those gold!” the Sheriff said.

“No! please don’t! We need these gold!” a girl said.

“This is the king’s order! You don’t want to get arrested, do you?” the Sheriff said.

“Hu huhu… No… But… uh-!” in the end, The Sheriff took the gold by force.

Not long after The Sheriff left, Robin came.

“What’s wrong little girl? Why are you crying?” Robin asked.

“The Sheriff… He took all of our golds.” The girl said.

“Oo De Lally~! you don’t have to worry then, little girl. Here, I have a lot more for you” Robin said.

The next day, the tournament was held. It was actually not an ordinary tournament. The King was planning on capturing Robin Hood because he knew that Robin hood was good at archery.

But, Robin Hood was smart. He came with another disguise so no one notice that he was Robin Hood. The tournament then soon began.

Most of the contestant had failed. And now, there’s only 2 people with one of them was Robin Hood.

The first contestant shot. but it didn’t hit the target. And now, it’s Robin’s turn. He takes a deep breath before then he shot. It hits the bullseye! The crowds went hype.

And that is when, the Sheriff realize. “Get that man! He is Robin Hood!” he shouted. But it was all too late, because Robin Hood had successfully escaped. Unknown to the Sheriff and the king, their gold had being taken once again

After all, the tournament was only a distraction...

Maura, who like to be thought of as the most beautiful and powerful queen of Arabia, had many suitors. One by one she discarded them, until her list was reduced to just three sheiks. The three sheiks were all equally young and handsome. They were also rich and strong. It was very hard to decide who would be the best of them.


One evening, Maura disguised herself and went to the camp of the three sheiks. As they were about to have dinner, Maura asked them for something to eat. The first gave her some left over food. The second Sheik gave her some unappetizing camel’s tail. The third sheik, who was called Hakim, offered her some of the most tender and tasty meat. After dinner, the disguised queen left the sheik’s camp.

The king of Klungkung was killed, yet his daughter, Made Surati, and his son, Agung Bagus Mantra, were able to escape and hide in the jungle.

Prabu Menak Prakoso had a son named Raden Banterang. He was such a handsome young man. One day, Raden Banterang went to the jungle for hunting. It was in the jungle that Raden Banterang met Made Surati. She was then taken to Blambangan to be his wife. Raden Banterang and Made Surati enjoyed a happy life in the Palace.

When Raden Banterang was hunting one day, Made Surati was surprised by the arrival of a dirty beggar asking for her pity. The princess was surprised to find that the beggar was her older brother, Agung Bagus Mantra. She promptly squatted and embraced her brother’s legs. However, her great respect of her brother was not well accepted. Instead, Agung Bagus Mantra asked his sister to kill Raden Banterang. But such a request was rejected. He was very angry with her and came up with a sly idea to slander her.

Slowly but surely, Agung succeeded in convincing Raden Banterang that his wife had been involved in a scandal with another man. Asking for compassion, Made Surati tried to tell the truth and denied her husband’s accusation. Hearing his wife explanation, the king became angrier and angrier. As a proof of her sacred love, she asked her husband to kill her. As her last request, she asked her husband to throw her dead body into the river. She said that if the water in the river smelled terrible, it meant that she had ever been sinful. But if it smelled fragrant, it meant that she was innocent.

Raden Banterang who was unable to control his emotions soon stabbed his kerís (dagger) into his wife’s chest. She died instantly. The dead body of Made Surati was quickly thrown into the dirty river. Raden Banterang was shocked to see the river suddenly become clean and as clear as glass with a fragrant smell. Raden Banteraflll screamed crazily and regretted his deed. He walked unsteadìly and fell into the river screaming, “Banyu… Wangì… Banyuwangi!”  This means “fragrant water”.Banyuwangi was born from the proof of noble and sacred love. From then on, the place is called Banyuwangi.

The poor princess went alone, she didn't know to where she should go. She almost could not cry anymore. She had a nobble heart. She did not have any bad feeling with her step mother, instead she always asked the God to accompany her passed her suffer.

Almost seven day and seven night she has walked until she came to south ocean. She looked at the ocean. It was so clean and clear, unlike other ocean which have a blue or green colour. She jumped onto the water and swim. Suddenly when the south ocean water touched her skin there was a miracle happened. Her ulcer has gone and there was no sign that she has ever had a scabies or itch. Even more she became more beautiful than before. Not only that she has a power to command whole of the south ocean. Now she became a fairy called Nyi Roro Kidul or The Queen of South Ocean who lived forever.
